MONTHLY AND SEASON NOTES

The 2006 season is shaping up to be a dominate one for the O's and United, who currently stand as the only two franchises averaging over 100 points per game. The O's are currently on pace to score 1612 points, which would put them as the third franchise to score at least 1600 points in a regular season (the other were A II P in 1998 and O's in 2004).... The amazing story of the 2006 season thus far has to be the Lake Show. Last years American League Champion and Prestige Finalists began this season 0-3 and averaging just 64 points per game. However, they have been able to turn the season around thanks to a new league record with 8 consecutive weeks or improved scoring from the previous week, capped off by last week's 158-82 victory over H.... Some league history was made earlier this season when the result of the A II P and Lightning matchup changed nearly a week afterwards. Originally the Week 6 game was listed as a 94-94 tie, with A II P taking the tiebreaker. However, on Saturday it was discovered that the score was 94-93 with Lightning taking the victory. This marked just the second time the result of a game changed. The previous time was a Week 2 1999 meeting with Lightning and O's. Initially Lightning was credited with a 70-69 win, but a correction was made the following day, giving the O's a 70-70 tiebreaker victory.... United rb Ladainain Tomlinson became the first player in league history to win Player of the Week, Player of the Month (October), and Player of the First Half honors on the same weekend. Since the 2004 season, Tomlinson has been honored with the Player of the Week five times, which a league best over the span (the next closest is Donovan McNabb, and Larry Johnson who have each received the honor three times since 2004).... The leagues most consistent players this year have been Donovan McNabb (who has scored at least 30 points in all but Week 7), wr Andre Johnson (who has reached double figures in all 5 starts), Larry Johnson (who has scored double figures in every game, with the exception of a 9 point performance in Week 6), Bears d/st (who surpassed at least 12 points in all but one start), and k's Nate Kadeing and Robbie Gould who have consistency scored in double-digit figures throughout the year... Gould has been especially good as is having a comparable start to Neil Rackers record-pace of a year ago (Rackers got injured at the end of the year and finished with just 10 starts). Gould is on pace to break the record and his 77 (12.8 ppg) start is a close parallel to Racker's start year ago (85 points, 14.2 PPG). Also, both kickers were acquired the year of their big success (Rackers through the draft and Gould via free agency). This year Rackers has been one of the most disappointing players as his record 13.5 points per game a year ago has fallen to 6.1 points per game this season.... The 69ers at d/st and te as well as United at rb, are the only teams that finished #1 in scoring production at a position in 2005, and still remain #1 at that same position after the first half of this season. Among the most drastic changes in positional scoring is the improvement 328's have had at wr. They have finished last in wr scoring the past three season, but are currently ranked 4th. Also A II P has improved it's rb scoring by 8 points per game this season (ranked #9 to #5 this year).

TOP SCORERS FOR OCTOBER
At qb, United's Donovan McNabb edged out all others in scoring this month, with 189 points. However, nit to far behind were the O's Peyton Manning (172) and Tomcats Marc Bulger (169), and both players had a bye in October... At rb Ladainian Tomlinson (the league's Player of October and Player of the First Half) easily lead all with 117 points. Lake Show's Larry Johnson also had an impressive month scoring 101 points... The wr position, which has been rather quiet in overall production, was lead by H's Steve Smith who scored 78 points. Smith missed the first three games of the season, so all his production has come within the past month. The O's Reggie Wayne was the next closest wr with 78 points in October... The te position saw the return of 69ers Antonio Gates dominance. After just 17 point in September, Gates has since scored a league best 76 points to pace the overall leaders by nearly 30 points... Robbie Gould and Nate Kadeing have controlled the kicker position this month. Kadeing's 50 points scored in October is second only to Gould's 51 points... The Bears lead all d/st in scoring for October with 67 points. The Giants are the next best with 44 points scored.

A COUPLE INTERESTING STATS
The O's are the only franchise not to ever score under 60 in the past three seasons. The last time the O's scored under 60 was a Week 14 loss against H in 2002... The O's also hold the leagues all-time best record in the month of October with 37 wins (United and A II P are second with 33 wins all-time in October)... For the second consecutive season, scoring is down from the previous year. Total scoring is down 163 points (10.2 points per team) from last year, which saw a 2.9 points per team drop from the 2004 season. The 2004 season was the second highest scoring year in league history (only surpassed by the 1998 season).
