This
summer, Chris Aubertin announced that Ryan Aubertin
would be taking over the decision making of the franchise,
and he promised a more aggressive general manager.
The results showed as early as Draft Night, when the
Tomcats made a blockbuster trade for Shaun Alexander.
The addition of Alexander has been one of many the
franchise has made since (mostly via free agency).
Perhaps most surprisingly Alexander has not really
been the contributor of the teams turnaround (at least
not yet anyway). Injuries really plagued this team
a year ago and it should not be forgotten that this
was an 8-6 franchise in 2004. At the midpoint of the
season, the Tomcats have already matched 2005's win
total and are averaging 10 points per game more then
they did a year ago. A healthy return of Alexander
could have this team poised for even more improvement
over the second half.
